THOWBACK - 2015

This photo was taken in April 2015, the property was sold in October. It was a bartlett pear orchard with trees that had been producing for more than half a century. The trees were removed by the previous owner. The ground was ripped more than 3 times to aid decomposition of the roots and stumps and alleviate compaction from heavy equipment in the orchard rows. Slowly the ground is evened from discing and harrowing. Then it can be planted with grains, pastures grasses and other crops. The new layout for the parcel will follow natural patterns in the landscape and divert water to mulched soils that can retain rainfall and irrigation. Mount Konocti, a dormant Volcano looms in the background.
